Intro to Machine Sewing

In this Introduction to Machine Sewing, students will learn the basics of sewing on a Singer Sewing Machine.
Each student will have their own Singer Sewing machine to learn on. Each lesson is structured to teach specific techniques which are used to create the project and to build on each other. We will explore different construction methods designed to make your sewing experience fun and rewarding. Students will learn the fundamentals of sewing and using a sewing machine.

Pottery Wheel 1 | Monday

Ready to get your hands dirty? Our beginner-friendly Pottery Wheel 1 class is the perfect introduction to the exciting world of wheel throwing! Learn the fundamentals of creating your own cups, bowls, and other forms through instructor demonstrations and hands-on guidance. No prior experience is necessary—this class is designed to give you a strong foundation in wheel throwing. Each session also includes open studio practice time, giving you the opportunity to put your new skills to work and spend extra time at the wheel. Whether you’ve always wanted to try pottery or are looking for a new creative outlet, this class is a fun and hands-on way to get started!

Watercolor After The Masters

Learn more about Art history, while enjoying watercolor painting techniques. Beginners welcome!
Using principles learned from the Fundamentals, Figure/Head, and Painting classes, we’ll apply our knowledge and skills to Great Master artworks. We’ll learn watercolor basics (wet on wet,wet on dry, color mixing). Each week we’ll look at various artists such as Rubens, Rembrandt, Winslow Homer and more. From each, we’ll cover the human figure, landscapes, and abstracts.

Beginning Acrylic Painting
with Sasha Mirzoyan
Learn the basics techniques of painting while exploring the unique characteristics of acrylic paint. Students will put concepts like value, color mixing, texture, and composition to action as they work on creating their very own still-life, portrait, and landscape paintings. No previous experience necessary.

HandBuilding Clay
with Grace Caldwell
This ceramics class is perfect for beginners who want to learn to create bowls, dishes, vases, tiles and sculptures without the use of the potter’s wheel. Experienced potters are also welcome. Subject matter will be student directed with instructor guidance.
Many of the student projects will be self directed methods of pinch, coil and slab and additional techniques will be demonstrated to add a personal touch to your work by using sculpting, but these will contain hollow forms (pinch method), coil methods, and slab methods including slump, drape and tar paper slab building method.

Pastels
with Rosemary Bailey
Explore color and basic drawing in this class that uses the classical medium of chalk and oil pastel. Learn color mixing and blending, work on colored paper, and develop new techniques for highlights and shadows. Pastel is ideal for people who want learn more about drawing and for those who want to learn more about painting but feel a little intimidated by the process. Students will learn a variety of techniques working with still lifes, botanicals and landscapes.

Pottery Wheel 2
with Angela Korbe
This 6-week course is an intermediate class but is designed for all skill levels. Whether you are ready for complex forms or still learning how to center and Tuesday nights just work best for you- You will be welcomed! Each class will include a pottery demonstration and independent practice time. We will learn how to wedge, center, and throw multiple forms on the wheel. This class focuses on creating good studio habits and learning to work in a shared space. There will be an optional companion Discord page which allows us to chat outside of class, ask questions, view work together, keep up to date on current local art events, and share our results at the end of the six weeks.
