In this Introduction to Machine Sewing, students will learn the basics of sewing on a Singer Sewing Machine.

Each student will have their own Singer Sewing machine to learn on. Each lesson is structured to teach specific techniques which are used to create the project and to build on each other. We will explore different construction methods designed to make your sewing experience fun and rewarding. Students will learn the fundamentals of sewing and using a sewing machine.

This class is an introduction to sewing on a sewing machine.  So, if you are brand new at sewing and want to have a chance to learn some basics, this is a great place to start.  On the first day of class we will get acquainted with the sewing machine for the first time.  Also on the first day you will create a coaster that you can take home with you. On the 2nd day of class we will start a hand sewing tools zippered pouch…yes a zipper on your first project!  I’ll guide you through the process one step at a time. We will be working on this for the next couple of class meetings. Then we will be making a tote bag, which could be made to match the zippered pouch, if you like.  This lined tote bag will be perfect to carry your sewing projects to and from your next sewing class. By the last class time you should be able to finish your tote bag!  This is a busy class and you will be likely learning quite a lot.  You’ll be quite proud to say, “I made it myself!” This is a beginning sewing adventure and a very friendly learning environment because we are all learning.  Each student will have their own Singer sewing machine to work with along with everything you need to complete the projects.  There will be about 6 fabrics available that will be a delight to choose from.
