Plein Air Painting- MAY 8

Join us for our watercolor & acrylic nature painting workshops! Enjoy some time outside and be inspired by the nature around you. This workshop is open to adults ages 18+ — bring a friend, special someone, or just yourself!

This workshops is free to Fayetteville City Residents thanks to the sponsorship by City of Fayetteville, Parks and Rec & Arts and Culture Departments

FRIDAY DATES:

5:00 PM — Students will meet at CCC for a brief introduction. Instructor will lead students to the Upper or Lower Ramble to paint with gouache, watercolors, or acrylic on paper or stretched canvas.

7 :00 PM — Students will return to CCC to discuss the experience.

Drawing From A Live Model- Long Pose

Long-Pose Figure Drawing Workshop

In this workshop we will focus on a single long-pose figure drawing. Gesture and form will be a main focus. Other principles covered will be Relationships, Proportion, Shadow Mapping, and Light/Shade. We will draw in half-hour bouts during these three hours.

1-1:30 PM: Intro, lecture, demo, sketchbook + art book tour

1:30-4 PM: 25-min bouts + 1-on-1 instruction

Supply List

· Pencils: Wooden, mechanical (0.5-0.7) of various grades (HB, B, 2B)

· Charcoal Pencils: General’s, Conté á Paris, Faber-Castel + Sandpaper blocks/crafting knife to sharpen them.

· Ballpoint pens: Bic, Paper-Mate

Papers

· Any Newsprint or Strathmore/Canson Drawing Paper at 12x18, 14x17, or 18x24 inches. Charcoal users: You want some tooth to your papers.

· Copy/print paper: A few dozen sheets for a more softer drawing feel.

Other

· Masonite Board and clamps to hold down your paper/Tabletop easel, standard easels

Instructor: Mark Nuñez

Mark is an artist and instructor in Northwest Arkansas. He is founder of NWA Life Drawing, a monthly drawing group. He currently has an original drawing in the ‘Small Works On Paper 2026’ traveling exhibit. He exhibited last year at Fenix Arts for ‘Exploring the Inevitable: The Art of Dying’ , ‘This Is Our Land’, and at Local Color Gallery’s ‘Small Works Show’ . He previously worked as a 3D Artist for various studios (mobile, AR/VR) for several years in Los Angeles. You’ll probably stumble upon him learning from artworks at Crystal Bridges or out and about in life just sketching.

Please note: Participants in this workshop will be drawing from a live nude model. Materials included. Ages 18+.

Flowers For Mom Workshop
